Ryan Hemsworth-Approved Cape Town Artist Seferino Is The “Party Master”

Listen to his melancholy reggae if you doubt it.

We imagine Seferino could throw a pretty above-average party: he's pals with South African streetwear line YOH!, bands John Wizards and Beatenberg, and Ryan Hemsworth, who is releasing his Monkey With No Tail! EP this month on Secret Songs. So it's no surprise that the Cape Town-based artist calls himself the "Party Master" in his cute new single. Even if the video does show him standing forlornly on the beach in his business casual, that lilting beat and karaoke-ready lyric video are telling of someone who's down to have a good time.

"'Party Master' is a song I wrote last year just after getting back from John Wizards' second tour," Seferino told The FADER over email. "I hadn't been playing much (the classic touring irony), so I was quite pleased to get sucked into a groove so swiftly and beginning to make music again. Especially the sort of melancholy reggae groove that it turned into."
