Mick Jenkins Party Starts Through The Problems “Get Up Get Down”

The Chicago rapper parties real and really parties.

July 20, 2015

Mick Jenkins will soon follow up his eclectic and soulful mixtape The Water[s] with a new record Wave[s] on August 21 via Cinematic Music Group/Free Nation. "Get Up Get Down" sees the Chicago rapper (and book reader) kicking off a booming party of crystal synths, courtesy of Stefan Ponce and ThemPeoples, while refusing to avoid difficult subjects like sobriety, homesickness, and his fanbase ("Came in with the intention to blackout, the / audience all white I thought we bring blacks out") .

Check the track out below. That lovely angular single art above is by Kansas City's Hayveyah McGowan, who will collaborate with Mick on paintings for each the tracks on Wave[s].
