Raury can sing, rap, and strum, but he's in full MC mode on his latest track. Forbidden knowledge can destroy mankind, he intones solemnly. There's power in the black folk, but that's forbidden knowledge.
When K.R.I.T. shows up, he almost steals the show by stringing together a dizzying series of syllables: Who put the liquor store across the street from the gun shop/ and the park a hop, skip, and a dark way from the gun shots/ that rang out in the neighborhood where the youths misunderstood/ fighting over concrete squares where the laws just ain't no good.
"Forbidden Knowledge" will appear on Raury's All We Need album, which arrives October 16. Listen above, and read Raury's FADER interview.
