Cass McCombs has been quiet since the release of his Big Wheel And Others double album in 2013. Before the end of the year, he plans to return with A Folk Set Apart: Rarities, B-Sides & Space Junk, Etc., which offers “an alternate retelling” of his last ten years. The 19 songs on the compilation were recorded between 2003 and 2014; five have never been released before. According to press materials, “For the past decade, most of these have been next to impossible to find, and for the first time are now readily available. Many were first unveiled as split 7”s, only sold at shows.”
