New York electro-pop duo ASTR shimmered onto the scene two years ago with Varsity EP, which—with the exception of an ecstatic cover of Drake's "Hold On We're Going Home"—was packed with wistful and '90s-indebted dance tracks. The group's sophomore EP, Homecoming, which premieres today on The FADER, finds them leaning further into this sonic world. "Homecoming focuses on a dark nostalgia that Varsity touched on with a moody collection of songs about toxic love and broken dreams," Adam Pallin, the producer half of the duo, explained in an email to The FADER. And indeed, the six-song project features a good mix of euphoric, dance floor ready cuts ("Activate Me") and moodier, bass-heavy tracks ("Invincible"). Hear for yourself below.
