The Big Pink reemerged today with "Hightimes," the band's first new single in three years. This song quickly reestablishes the group's love of cavernous beats and walls of fuzz, a hallmark of the first two Big Pink albums. On "Hightimes," drums pound, guitars ring, and Mary Charteris' sing-song backing vocals sneak pleasantly through the background.
The Big Pink plans to workshop some of its new material in a live setting. The group will perform three weeks in a row at The Echo in Los Angeles starting November 16.
