Watch Plaitum’s Blade Runner-Insp”red “LMHY" Video
The London duo appears in the clip, which also draws on early Expressionist cinema.
London’s Plaitum is the project of two childhood friends that bonded over a love of quirky electronic music and old horror films, the latter which has influenced their new video for "LHMY." Recently remixed by industrial artist Rabit, "LMHY" is from their upcoming self-titled EP, set to be released December 4th via Wolf Tone. The trippy new video experiments with expressionism, toying around with abstract shadows and lights. The use of warm and bold colors throughout the film mirrors the songs euphoric synths and lush vocals, enhancing the already blissful high the song evokes.
"We explored a world that’s like Blade Runner imagined by early Expressionist cinema, and a city [is] suggested by light/shadow and old photographic techniques,” the clip's director, Julian House , told FADER in an email. “Plaitum feature as lost souls in skyscraper windows."
