This New Solo Track By Nguzunguzu’s NA Is Relentless

“Definite Sentence” is “the soundtrack to the hellish industry of prison labor.”

February 11, 2016

There's a military gait to this new one from NA, the solo project of Daniel Pineda of L.A. duo Nguzunguzu and Warp-signed production powerhouse Future Brown. Taken from Cellar Theme, Pineda's forthcoming new EP on Fade To Mind, "Definite Sentence" quicksteps with controlled urgency through crashing cymbals and indistinct squeals; it is spare, focused, relentless.

"The tracks on Cellar Theme are distinct chambers of a larger dungeon complex," Pineda told The FADER. "'Definite Sentence' is the factory chamber with heavy machinery pumping, punching, pipes clanging. It's the soundtrack to the hellish industry of prison labor. I took some inspiration from DJ Rush's 'Help.'" Fade To Mind will release Cellar Theme on 12" and digital formats this March 2 (preorder it here).
