Creep, Crawl, And Brawl With Fresh Big Mouf “Bite Your Brains” Music Video

“It’s the contrast between blissful ignorance and the trauma inevitably comes your way when you’re suspending reality like that.”

It's nearly impossible to stimulate an audience that finds fulfillment in six-second videos and 140-characters. However, Fresh Big Mouf seems to have found a winning formula to combat this.

In his new two punch video for "Bite Your Brains," the L.A.-based performance artist and producer cleverly juxtaposes extreme intimacy—via close-up shots of creeping, crawling insects—against colorful, dizzying flashes of vogue dancing, bold costumes, and an intense fight scene. It's not your typical video by any means, but it has a certain visceral allure that will draw you in like a moth to flame.

With his debut solo album Taco Boombox on the way, "Bite Your Brains" is a taste of what to expect. As FBM explained in an email to The FADER: "The two songs that make up this video are the first two songs from the album, and they're important for me in setting the tone for the record. It's the contrast between blissful ignorance and the trauma that inevitably comes your way when you're suspending reality like that."

"I'm also really interested in short songs, most of the songs from the album are pretty short," he added. "I'm tired of three or four minute songs. I want to get hungry again! That's why I made Taco Boom Box so short. It's a 20-minute album of two-minute songs. It's either going to match how short our attention spans have become, or it'll be jarring to people. I don't mind either—if it's jarring it fits with the album, which is a breakup record. It's not supposed to be even and easy. I'm excited for people to hear this, it's been awhile coming."
