Watch Morimoto Pour Milk On His Saxophone, Because Why Not

The Chicago rapper and Dark World co-founder shares the first look at his new album.

April 12, 2016

A few months ago the rapper, producer, and—as in on fine display here—saxophone player Morimoto dropped a sweet and slept-on album called For Me & Ladie on the label he co-founded, Dark World. The label has roots in Massachusetts, but Morimoto is in Chicago now; he’s not just their Midwest ambassador but also something like their ambassador for pretty sounds. While DJ Lucas is out making his farm-boy 56 Nights, Morimoto is bringing back the upbeat spirit of Prefuse 73’s One Word Extinguisher and, like, The Coup with tracks like this new one, “That’s an Interlude.”

The song is the first taste of his next album, due this summer. “Hopefully this track will be only one that isn't collaborative,” Morimoto said. Speaking of collaborations: the video was directed by photographer Ryan Lowry, a frequent collaborator with The FADER—the milk was his idea. Watch above, and grab his last album below.
