Peter Berg Announces Plans For Rihanna Documentary

“More a character study than a music film.”

In 2012, Rihanna appeared in Peter Berg's movie Battleship. The action flick struggled at the box office, and the director later told New York Times Magazine, "I don’t want to tackle that kind of economic project for quite a while."

So he's turned his attention to other types of movies. Deadline reports that one of those will be a documentary on Rihanna. Berg called the movie "much more a character study than a music film," and suggested he was excited to tell the story of "a young artist at the top of her professional field." Berg's new production company, Film 45, described the project as "an unfiltered look into Rihanna's life and how she's ascended to become a global icon, providing a glimpse into the evolution of one of the world’s most well-known pop artists."
