A solo No. 1 single has been elusive for Drake on both sides of the Atlantic to date. Last year he declared, “no accolades really matter to me other than the fact that I have never had a billboard number one.” “Hotline Bling” reached No. 2 for several weeks, but it was held at bay by the Weeknd’s “The Hills.”

The star can now cross U.K. No. 1 off his bucket list. According to Billboard, “One Dance” jumped from No. 21 to No. 1 on the U.K. pop chart. The single sold the equivalent of 72,000 copies, dethroning Mike Posner’s “I Took a Pill In Ibiza.”

On the U.S. chart, “One Dance” debuted at No. 21. “Pop Style,” which benefits from the star power of Kanye West (and the smallest nod from Jay Z), debuted ahead of it at No. 16.
