Even before Drake premiered his new album VIEWS on Apple Music last night, the samples on the album were getting a lot of attention. There was his dig into UK funky on “One Dance,” and the controversy over whether “Hotline Bling” should be traced back to Timmy Thomas or D.R.A.M. And as the samples in VIEWS itself show, Drake is still in the mood to both dig in the crates and nod to the greats.
