After releasing his third studio album 22, A Million, Bon Iver made a surprise appearance at Michelberger Music Festival in Berlin this past weekend. Organized partly by Justin Vernon and Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, the two-day event hosted musicians to collaborate and learn with each other at the Funkhaus studio spaces.

As well as performing a live techno set, Justin Vernon also played songs from 22, A Million with his band. For “8 (circle),” Vernon decided to incorporate the talents of the Cantus Domus choir, whose sound made the track even more ethereal and epic-sounding. Watch clips of the performance below, including some footage of their rehearsal.
