On Monday, the White House hosted South By South Lawn, a collaborative event with South By Southwest that featured performances from Gallant, Sharon Jones, as well as a screening of Leonardo DiCaprio's climate documentary Before the Flood.

Common also performed for a special edition of NPR's "Tiny Desk Concert" series. Along with a backing band that included Bilal, Robert Glasper, Elena Pinderhughes, and more, Common ran through classic tunes like "I Used To Love H.E.R.," as well as three new songs entitled “Letter to the Free,” “The Day the Women Took Over,” and “A Little Chicago Boy.” The new tracks are from Common's upcoming Black America Again album, due out in November via Artium/Def Jam. The Chicago MC previously shared a video for the album's title track with Stevie Wonder.
