He leaves behind a big, underappreciated catalog of great music, including a string of solo releases on Rap-A-Lot and material with three groups (S.U.C., Southside Playaz, and Blac Monks), plus appearances on both rare, pre-Bun gems and storied classics from UGK.

Houston Rap Tapes is Lance Scott Walker's encyclopedic, multi-platform project documenting the culture of city's rap scene, and today, Walker dropped off a new edition of the HRT mix series, dedicated to the slain rapper. Like everything else Walker's put out, it's nothing if not thorough, stringing together almost two hours of music from a career spanning a quarter century. It's an appropriate tribute for a prolific, unsung hero gone too soon.
