Lil Wayne has had a tumultuous year, underscored by the fact that his current legal situation with Birdman and Cash Money Records is preventing the New Orleans rapper to release his long-awaited Carter 5 album. But there may be good news for Wayne fans in the near future. During a recent stop by The Nine Club podcast, Wayne told host Chris Roberts that he plans to release a new project entitled Funeral in the near future.

“I have a whole bunch of good news coming soon,” Wayne says in the interview. “If you are a Wayne fan —I know we’ve been going through a lot of tough times right now—but if you are a Wayne fan, we’re about to hold our heads high.” The project doesn't have a release date yet, but its release would mark Wayne's first full-length since 2015's Free Weezy Album.
