The Critics Choice Awards took place in Santa Monica on Sunday night, December 11. One of the most keenly contested categories of the night was that of Best Comedy Series, which included nominees Silicon Valley and Atlanta. The HBO series about a web start-up won the prize, but that didn't stop Atlanta actor Keith Stanfield going up to accept the prize on their behalf.
“I want to thank everybody for honoring us in this way. We worked very hard on Silicon Valley. And here we are,” the actor, who plays Darius in Donald Glover's hit show, said during his speech. “Thank you.”
“Wow. No idea who that was,” Silicon Valley executive producer Tom Lassally said as he took over and accepted the award officially.
Although Silicon Valley took Best Comedy Series at the awards, Atlanta star and creator Donald Glover did win Best Actor in a Comedy Series.
