The Grammys Will Pay Tribute To Prince And George Michael At This Year’s Ceremony

The names of the artists performing the tribute segments remain under wraps.

The 2017 Grammys take place this coming Sunday, February 12. Performers on the night will include The Weeknd with Daft Punk, A Tribe Called Quest, Anderson .Paak, and Chance The Rapper among many others. Today, February 8, organizers have confirmed that in addition to the previously announced performances there will be musical tributes to Prince and George Michael, both of whom passed away since the Grammys in 2016.

Names involved in both tributes are yet to be confirmed. Speaking about the decision to honor the late stars, Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy said: "The passings of two such creative innovators were a huge loss for the creative community; The Recording Academy is humbled to pay homage to their tremendous legacies on the Grammy stage."

The 59th Grammy Awards are scheduled to air at 8 p.m. EST on CBS. Remind yourself of the nominations here.
