Jordan Peele’s Get Out Is Already A Box Office Smash

The critically-acclaimed film made $30.5 million in its first weekend.

Get Out, the new horror film from Jordan Peele of the comedy duo Key & Peele, is the number one movie in America, making $30.5 million over its first weekend, Box Office Mojo reports. The movie has received rave reviews, and holds a 99% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film, Peele's first as writer and director, played in 2,781 theaters nationwide for a $10,976 per-screen average. Chance The Rapper, in a small way, helped with these numbers: on Sunday, the Chicago artist bought a local theater's screenings of the film.
