Since U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May announced a general election for June 8, support for Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has risen among young people. A number of major voices in the grime scene, including Stormzy, Novelist, and AJ Tracey, have rallied behind Corbyn, while encouraging young people to register to vote before the May 22 deadline.

Research published yesterday, May 15, by Novara Media suggested that the youth vote has the potential to swing the election result in Labour’s favor. On Sunday, May 14, grime MC JME met with Corbyn to discuss ways of encouraging more young people to place votes.

Their meeting was followed by the launch of a new pro-Corbyn online campaign, “Grime4Corbyn.” The website’s aim is to channel support within the grime scene for Corbyn by connecting with young voters, and emphasizing the need to have their voices heard on June 8. They are doing this by offering the chance to win tickets to a secret party, to be held one week before the election.

Details for the event, including its date, location, and who will be performing, have yet to be announced. The site also features the “Corbyn Riddim,” in which audio of the Labour leader outlining key policies is played over a grime instrumental. You can register to win tickets to the event here.
