This 19-Year-Old Irish Artist Made The Perfect Slow Jam For Your Lazy Summer Romance

Biig Piig has a weird name, but her sound is distinctive in all the right ways.

When you’re first dating someone you really like, nothing beats shutting yourself indoors and letting the world melt away. London-based neo-soul artist Biig Piig captures that feeling in her debut video for stoned-out slow jam “24K,” where she watches TV and cozies up with a cute boy in an apartment cluttered with thrift store finds. He doesn’t even mind when she lights her cigarettes on the stove as he cooks up breakfast. It nicely complements the track’s sweet lyrics like “You ain’t got to do nothin’/ Baby when I’m with you it's gold” — but there’s a deadpan inflection to Biig Piig's delivery which stops things from getting too cutesy.

Speaking over email, Biig Piig explained further: “‘24K’ is my experience of growing in a relationship with someone, finding the mundane things, and learning to appreciate them together. I wanted the video to give insight to what it's like to be in love — you'll find that every room is set up in a certain color and tone, and this is my way of showing how it feels at different stages of getting to know that person.”
