At the launch event at Apple campus in Silicon Valley on Tuesday, the company unveiled the long-awaited iPhone X. The new phone marks the first significant redesign of the iPhone in years, scrapping the home button in favor of a screen display that takes up the entire front of the phone. The new model also features face-scan technology to unlock the phone, wireless charging, and a $1000 price tag.

The Face ID technology will adapt to changes in a user's face over time, such as facial hair, and will only unlock the phone once you look at it. Most importantly, the facial data is stored on the phone itself, rather than sent to a server. The technology also allows for another new feature: Animojis. Using facial recognition, users will be able to generate emojis with their expressions.
