Toro y Moi’s “No Show” music video is public access TV from the heart

Chaz Bear’s new visuals are another intimate and elusive self-portrait.

Chaz Bear a.k.a. Toro y Moi's new music video for "No Show," premiering today on The FADER, combines elements from the visuals for "Girl Like You" and "You and I," all tracks from his recent blissful pop album Boo Boo. The mystical karaoke video vibe of "Girl Like You" meets the delicate portraiture of "You and I," all observed from within what looks like a primitive digital editing platform. It reads as low stakes, but that doesn't mean it's not also revealing in some way. The video ends with a section of "(Be)," a hidden track on Boo Boo featuring vocals by Madeline Kenney. "["No Show"] is about how patterns can change," Chaz Bear told The FADER over email.
