Wow, Layla Hendryx’s ice-cold “Rain or Snow” is a perfect song for winter

“I trap in the rain, I trap in the snow.”

I dare you to listen to Layla Hendryx's "Rain or Snow" and try to continue your day without it bouncing around in your head. On the icy, JMak-produced track, she finds rare melodic pockets; the result is something like a hustler's lullaby, a simultaneously menacing and delicate reminder to not fuck with her money.

"'Rain or Snow' was inspired by a series of events in my life that I've had to deal with, such as fake friends and petty people, hence the line, 'If you're petty, I'm petty too',” Layla explained. "I am basically telling them I'm going to grind regardless come rain or snow. I made sure that I was the only person on camera in the video to further get that point across."

The single, whose video is premiering above, comes from this summer's Preepaid EP. The project, a collection of songs all produced by JMak, was a welcome follow-up for those of us who've been following her since her 2015 release, Channel 6.
