2018 is a big year for the world of figure skating, with skaters allowed to use music with lyrics in their Olympic competition for the first time. 22-year-old Jimmy Ma from New York took the rule change and ran with it at the U.S. Nationals on Thursday night, breaking out a routine soundtracked by Lil Jon and DJ Snake banger "Turn Down For What."

“Figure skating is an extreme sport,” Ma told USA Today Sports after competing. “I want the most amount of people to see that it is both an awesome art form and also an awesome sport. The whole point was to get people hyped. Get older people hyped and for younger people to think it is cool.”

Perhaps the NBC commentators put it best though, with one noting "Welcome to figure skating in the 2010s." Check out Ma's full routine above.
