London on a cold, wet night can be an unforgiving place without a little hope in your heart. The two dancers in the video for Scottish electronic artist Makeness's new video have what it takes to beat the winter blues though, two-stepping to the synapse-firing sounds of the producer in his "Stepping Out Of Sync" video.

The track is taken from Makeness's forthcoming debut album, Loud Patterns, due for release via Secretly Canadian on April 6. His mix of Caribou-esque songwriting and production chops are the perfect fit for a video that catches a pair of friends as they dance through puddles and outside a chicken shop, transforming a grey and depressing scene into something more exciting.

Speaking to The FADER via email, Makeness said: ‘Stepping Out Of Sync’ for me is about losing a little bit of a grip on reality. There’s a big nod to the world of pop music in the track and I wanted to reflect that in the video too. I think the video really captures the range of emotions that exist in the track, it’s upbeat and positive aspect alongside a layer of dissonance and confusion that lies under the surface."
