Ryan Coogler, co-writer and director of Marvel's Black Panther, has recorded commentary for a sequence in the upcoming superhero film for The New York Times's video series "Anatomy of a Scene." The scene in question is a car chase, which was previewed on Ellen but appears here with brand new footage.

T'Challa a.k.a. Black Panther (played by Chadwick Boseman) rides on top of a car remotely piloted by Shuri (Letita Wright). Along with their Wakanda comrades Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) and Okoye (Danai Gurira), T'Challa and Shuri are in pursuit of Klaw (Andy Serkis). "The whole idea for this scene is we wanted to have a car chase that was unlike any car chase that we had seen before," Coogler says. "Combining the technology of Wakanda and juxtaposing that with this tradition of an African warrior culture." One of the sources of conflict in the film comes from the traditionalists like T'Challa and innovators like his sister Shuri.

Black Panther is in theaters February 16. The soundtrack, curated by Kendrick Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment, is out now.
