Beyoncé and UNICEF have partnered with Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE to assist in clean water efforts in Burundi, the parties announced today. The partnership is part of World Water Day, a UN event that seeks to focus attention on the importance of water throughout the world, and bring awareness to the need for assistance in places where access to clean water is sparse.
In 2017, in partnership with UNICEF, Beyoncé's BEYGOOD launched BEYGOOD4BURUNDI a multiyear initiative dedicated to bringing safe water to the nation of Burundi. As of today, the initiative has built 35 wells across the country. Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE's $1 million commitment to the campaign was announced today.
BEYGOOD4BURUNDI focuses particularly on the "most vulnerable women and children" in the country, which it calls "the Heart of Africa." According to the initiative's website, they'll reach 366,000 women by 2020. Read more about the campaign here.
