Did Lil Uzi Vert really write his Instagram login on a bathroom wall?

We may never know why his account is referencing brothels, mysticism, and that old Mike Jones phone number.

Lil Uzi Vert's Instagram profile has been gold this week. The rapper announced on Monday that he's without a phone as he works on new music (the Instagram photo was posted on Uzi's profile and apparently written up by a member of his management). Since then, Uzi's account has shared more images on Instagram framed as though they written by people other than him, including a since-deleted promo for Nicki Minaj's upcoming singles "Barbie Tingz" and "Chun-Li," written from the perspective of Minaj.

On Tuesday, however, things started to get weirder. Uzi's profile shared a set of photos with a caption that appeared to be dictated by Uzi to someone else. "Hey Uzi Told me to tell y’all He Really doesn’t exist and neither does you in the next person eyes," it begins before going off on an existential and mystical tangent. The caption ends with: "This Nigga Weird but he my mans so Fuck it."

This was followed on Wednesday with another post claiming that Uzi had written his login information "in a tiny bathroom at a massage room/Brothel" and that "like 20 people" has access to his account. Finally, there's the video of Lyle Leduff, producer for Lil Uzi, who's filming himself while he says his roommate is outside walking around "butt naked with a sword." We don't ever see the roommate, but it's a tense watch. The caption on Instagram includes the phone number "(281)-330-8004," a reference to Houston rapper Mike Jones.

It's likely that it's Lil Uzi Vert behind the posts, just goofing off (The FADER has reached out for comment). If it is a new campaign to generate buzz behind new music, it's more creative and enjoyable than the rapper standard of purging the Instagram profile. And if it's just for fun, consider us amused.
