Hot 97's Ebro says he spoke to Kanye West after the rapper was criticized this weekend for promoting far-right activist Candace Owens. The radio host says that during the 30 minute conversation, Kanye expressed admiration for President Donald Trump. "He said 'I do love Donald Trump,'" Ebro said. "Kanye West, quote, 'I love Donald Trump." Watch the comments above at 6:54 via Complex.

Kanye's views on Trump were scrutinized when he said soon after the 2016 election that he would have cast a ballot for the Republican candidate had he actually voted. In December 2016, he visited the President-elect at Trump Tower in New York City in December 2016 for a meeting covering a number of issues, including violence in Chicago. Trump later gave Kanye a copy of his Time "Person of the Year," inscribed with "You are a good friend."

Ebro claimed that Kanye is vouching for Owens and Trump not on the substance of their beliefs, but on the notion that they are challenging established systems. "The only reason he likes this Candace lady is because she's challenging conventional black thought," Ebro said, adding that Kanye feels "demonized," and did not feel supported when he was hospitalized in November 2016: "Nobody really showed love for me when I was addicted to opioids and in the hospital," Kanye reportedly said.

As Ebro's revelations made their way around the internet, Kanye was sharing multiple excerpts of videos by Scott Adams, another Trump supporter, analyzing Kanye's tweets. Alex Jones, conspiracy theorist and host of InfoWars, invited Kanye to appear on his program.
