The halcyon days that mark the start of a romantic relationship unfortunately come with an expiration date. And Kablito — the Guayaquil, Ecuador-born, Los Angeles-based singer — knows this well. On her track “Algo a Cambiado,” debuting below, she laments the pangs that come along with jealousy and losing trust over lush, synthy production imbued with ’80s pop DNA. "Ahora solo apuntas tu dedo a mi," she sings over sparkling 808s. "Ahora solo sabes hacerme sufrir.”

“Algo a Cambiado” is off Kablito’s forthcoming EP Telenovela, a project that hits close to home for the singer as it marks her first work written entirely in Spanish. “As a Latin artist in the U.S., I’ve always struggled with my cultural identity, so for this record I decided to fully emerge in my roots and follow my intuition,” she explained over email. “Telenovela was written for my teenage self, and during the writing process I tried capturing the feelings I experienced the first time I fell in and out of love. The emotions and language that came along with it were so intense — very much like the novelas I grew up watching.”
