Twitter to reportedly begin deleting “millions” of fake accounts

Beginning on Thursday, Twitter will begin purging its platform of fake and spam accounts, The New York Times reports. Aiming to combat social media fraud and restore trust into the app, Twitter will begin slashing a ton of accounts, reportedly aiming to delete "10s of millions of questionable accounts from users's followers."

According to the Times report, "Many users, including those who have bought fake followers and any others who are followed by suspicious accounts, will see their follower numbers fall...The move would reduce the total combined follower count on Twitter by about 6 percent — a substantial drop."
