Watch Molly Burch’s “Wild” if you wanna feel better about feeling bad

It’s the exciting first single from her new album First Flower.

July 25, 2018

Whether you’re referencing The Drifters or Usher, you kind of have to be great at singing to sing “There goes my baby,” as Molly Burch does here on “Wild,” from her forthcoming First Flower LP. And yes she has the range.

Based in Austin, via L.A. then Asheville, Burch makes pretty rock music that stings. Such a classic song, here — because what’s more timeless and rough after “There goes my baby” than “I wish I was a wilder soul.”

Over email, she explained some of the thinking behind “Wild” and its grass-is-always-greener video directed by Luca Venter: “I wanted to write a song that made me feel at peace with my imperfections, and celebrate others without putting them on pedestals… I think for the most part we all share pretty similar fears and insecurities. Or at least that's what I'm hoping.”

First Flower comes out October 5 via Captured Tracks, and it’s up for pre-order now. It's really good : )
