Ebhoni throws the party of the summer in “Warning (Nite Version)”

The Toronto artist shows her range with the dancehall-charged new single.

Just in time for Toronto's Caribana Parade, the city's closing party for its annual celebration of the Caribbean diaspora, rising local artist Ebhoni has dropped a new video for "Warning (Nite Version)," a dancehall track controlled with confident energy and thrumming with the promise of sweaty good time. The setting of director Christine Boachie's video is the rarest of backyard parties: where there's not a single creep or vibe-chiller around, and the hour's just right for everyone to let go of what's stopping them from having a good time. Here's hoping we all find something similar this Caribana.

“I live in the most multicultural city dominated by Caribbean influences," Ebhoni told The FADER over email. "My background is Caribbean and I grew up listening to old school dancehall/reggae and as soon as I heard this track with the old school sound effects and baseline, I was sprung!!!! The production put me in a place of feeling bossy, lyrically it came easy because the production set the mood. The song is about me or other females knowing what they want, being in control and not being ashamed of it. There is also a huge cocky/confident element to the song 'Fucking with you saying Imma call yeah' and warning the guy that you are baddest and he WILL fall hard for you.”

"Warning" follows Ebhoni's music video for "Opps," another great tune that takes a more wavy pop-rap direction. Check it out here.
