The Sandy Liang x JIWINAIA earring collab will make you feel like an anime heroine
Sailor Moon IRL.
Anime characters have straight-up amazing style. Watch any given episode of Sailor Moon and I guarantee you're going to find at least one outfit that you'll try to recreate with your real-life wardrobe, if not more. While most animated shows have their characters in a stock uniform episode after episode, animes often mimic real life with multiple outfit changes, sharp details, and a sense of self.
When Sandy Liang set up her SS19 presentation at the Lower East Side institution Congee Village this NYFW, her models all sported oversized, can't-miss-them-if-you-tried drop earrings. The earrings were part of the designer's collaboration with JIWINAIA, the jewelry line by Seoul-born, Milan-based designer Marisa Jiwi Seok known for churning out whimsical costume jewelry, like baroque pearls with hand-drawn illustrations of screaming faces and maraschino cherries frozen in blocks of ice.
The two designers create dreamy pieces in their own right, and their collaboration brought their best sides together. The results were playful as hell, like a heart-shaped gem earring with a bulbous pearl fixture and Liang's signature floral motif morphed into a single earring shaped so long it could double as a bubbly anime heroine's secret, world-saving weapon. The earrings are not yet available, but will likely be sold alongside Liang's SS19 designs. See the designs below.
