After incorrect reports of his death circulated on Sunday morning, a representative for Bushwick Bill has confirmed that the iconic Houston rapper has passed away. "Bushwick Bill passed away peacefully [on Sunday, 9th June] at 9:35 p.m. He was surrounded by his immediate family," Bill's publicist wrote in a statement to Consequence of Sound. "There were incorrect previous reports that he had passed away this morning. We are looking into doing a public memorial at a later date. His family appreciates all of the prayers and support and are asking for privacy at this time.”

The legendary Geto Boys member was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer earlier this year, and was forced to cancel the planned Geto Boys reunion due to the illness. Born in 1966, Bill joined the pioneering Texas rap group in 1986 as a dancer, before transitioning to rapping. The group's 1991 album We Can't Be Stopped was certified platinum in the United States, and yielded the Hot Rap Singles #1 "Mind Playing Tricks On Me." Bill is survived by his son Javon Boutte.
