Reuters is reporting that a group of Michael Jackson fan clubs are suing Wade Robson and James Safechuck, the two men who accused Michael Jackson of abuse in the documentary Leaving Neverland, for defamation. On The Line, the MJ Street a nd the Michael Jackson Community are the three groups who have linked to sue the pair of defamation; they are represented by lawyer Emmanuel Ludot, who, as Stereogum points out, sued Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray in 2014. Ludot compares Robson and Safechuck’s accusations to “lynching.” The fan groups are hoping to sue the pair for a symbolic one Euro each.

France’s defamation laws are much tighter than those in America, meaning that Ludot and the fan groups have a stronger case against Robson and Safechuck than they would in the States. A judgement on the case will be delivered in French court on October 4th.
