Haviah Mighty wins prestigious Polaris Music Prize

Toronto rapper Haviah Mighty has won the 2019 Polaris Music Prize with her latest record 13th Floor, beating out shortlisted records by Marie Davidson, Elisapie, FET.NAT, Dominique Fils-Aimé, Les Louanges, POP, Jessie Reyez, Shad, and Snotty Nose Rez Kids. Her debut full-length, 13th Floor received acclaim on release, and featured the singles “Waves” featuring Sean Leon, and “Blame.” Along with the award, Haviah wins $50,000 cash. Before releasing 13th Floor, Haviah was a member of hip-hop crew The Sorority. Listen to 13th Floor below.
