“It’s like Jenga, except things don’t get less stable as we go and nobody takes turns and there’s no collapse so it’s not really like Jenga at all.”

mmmonika is an up-and-coming, self-described “boy band” out of Los Angeles. The gentle synth-pop eruption of “I Can’t!” comes just before the November 19 release of their Very American! EP. “‘I Can't!’ is a fruit of our 'first idea, best idea' process with the songs. Everybody in the band produces, so we're all pitching ideas on sounds and parts in a kind of manic way until we have something that resembles a song,” singer Ryan Yoo writes in an email to The FADER. “It's like Jenga, except things don't get less stable as we go and nobody takes turns and there's no collapse so it's not really like Jenga at all." Listen to "I Can't!" below and find the band's recent single "See Me On the Outside!" at the foot of the page.
