Solange has cancelled half of her planned Sydney Opera House residency due to health concerns. The set of four concerts, due to begin on the 27th of January in the Opera House’s famed Concert Hall, were to be part of her series of Witness! performance shows she has been staging in support of her 2019 record When I Get Home, the first of which was staged in Hamburg last year. “Solange has made the difficult decision, for health reasons, to shorten her time in Sydney this month,” the Opera House told ticketholders in an email regarding the cancellation. “Due to the physical demands of the shows and having sought medical advice, the artist has decided to reduce the number of performances at the Opera House.”

“As a result, the shows on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 January 2020 will no longer take place, and will not be rescheduled,” the email continues. “Solange apologises for any disappointment and looks forward to putting on the best shows possible for her Australian fans on the two remaining dates.” Tickets still remain for Solange’s two shows on Thursday 30 January and Friday 31 January. Solange’s run of shows at the Opera House Concert Hall are the last scheduled events in the venue before it undergoes a renovation.

The FADER has reached out to Solange’s team for comment.
