The Turning is an upcoming horror film from Floria Sigismondi starring Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard (Netflix's Stranger Things), and the official soundtrack boasts an impressive roster: Courtney Love, Soccer Mommy, Kali Uchis, Alice Glass, Kim Gordon, Empress Of, and many more. One of the biggest gets is Mitski, who steps out of a recent live hiatus to share the sludge rock-y "Cop Car." The song's entrancing, ember-lit vibe is certainly genre-appropriate for the film it's tied to, but there's nothing predictable or boilerplate about the menace Mitski is able to conjure. Thanks to this song, my interest in The Turning has been upgraded from "not at all" to "might watch on a plane." Listen to "Cop Car" above.
