Shamir will release his eighth studio album, Heterosexuality, on February 11, 2022. The announcement comes with a new single, "Cisgender," and a minimalist music video. The track finds the genre-bending artist belting in his signature falsetto above a spacey kick-snare drumbeat and a guitar line that sounds like a fuzzed-out step-sibling of Alex Scally's iconic lick from Beach House's "Space Song."

"Cisgender" follows the release of "Gay Agenda" last month, and while Shamir hasn't confirmed that the latter track will appear on Heterosexuality, the imagery in its music video connects it to the one he shared today for the new song. The artist wears horns in both videos, and while the city scenery in "Gay Agenda" is more involved than the simple brown background of "Cisgender," Shamir is shown as a lone, shadowy figure for the better part of each short.
