The first trailer for the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic Elvis is out, as Pitchfork points out. The film is directed by Baz Luhrmann (William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby) and stars Austin Baker as Elvis. Tom Hanks plays Colonel Tom Parker, the Dutch businessman who managed Presley and was sued by the singer's estate after Presley's death.

First impressions of the trailer: Baker looks like a TikTok thirst trapper (but looks good onstage) and Hanks goes full Plotting Goblin mode. My prediction is that this will either be an utter disaster or the perfect movie to watch on a plane. Elvis premieres in theaters on June 24, 2022.
