Lykke Li has announced details of a new studio album. Eyeye is out on May 20 and will be an audiovisual project with seven visual loops shot on 16 millimeter film released alongside the music which, according to a press release, "reveal a grander narrative, a story about the eternally returning cycles of love, addiction, relapse and obsession." It's noted that both the album title and its 33-minute runtime are palndromic. New song "NO HOTEL" is streaming above.

Eyeye is Lykke Li's fifth abum and her first since 2018's So Sad So Sexy. She worked on the album with Björn Yttling, whom she last collaborated on 2014 project I Never Learn. The album was recorded at home in Los Angeles with Li imposing a rule of "no clicktracks, no headphones, and no digital instruments" used throughout.

The seven minute-long loops were directed by Theo Lindquist and will be shared across social media platforms. They star actor Jeff Wilbusch, who starred in Netflix series Orthodox. “We wanted to capture the beauty and grandeur of a three-hour European arthouse movie, while making something native to modern media,” Li says. “The intention is to deliver the full impact of a movie in sixty seconds on a phone screen, which is where most of our emotional experiences happen now anyway.”
