Animal Collective’s Avey Tare announces solo album 7s, tour dates

Avey Tare, the solo project of Animal Collective’s Dave Portner, has announced details of a new album. 7s will be released on February 17 with videos for two songs from the album, "The Musical" and "Hey Bog," streaming now. Scroll down to watch now.

7s is the fourth Avey Tare album and the first since 2019's Cows on Hourglass Pond. It was written during the pandemic after Portner finished working on Animal Collective's 2022 album Time Skiffs, with producer Adam McDaniel helping to flesh out home demos at his Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, North Carolina.

Starting in March, Avey Tare will tour North America. The run of live shows begins with a hometown gig at Asheville's Grey Eagle with a stop at Brooklyn's Market Hotel among the 25 headline shows. The tour will wrap up in LA with a show at the Lodge Room on May 13.

Last year Tare's bandmate Panda Bear released Reset, a collaborative project made alongside former Spacemen 3 member Sonic Boom. The band canceled a scheduled tour of Europe in late 2022, citing financial concerns.
