Donald Glover must’ve known what to expect when he agreed to appear on the Eric Andre Show. Andre’s antics are well documented, but last night found him in rare form. He immediately had his guest on the back foot — as he tends to do — referring to him as “Donald J.P. Morgan Glover” and asking pressing questions about his identity (“You grew up in Atlanta? Or that’s just a bit for the show?”).
What followed was a barrage of surreal set pieces that seemed specifically designed to fuck with Glover’s head: questions about Vladimir Putin‘s racial identity, an appearance from a weed-smoking leprechaun, and lots and lots of bodily fluids. At any given point, it’s hard to tell how much Glover is playing into the awkwardness of his situation, but the segment’s final burping desk gag seemed to genuinely shock him.
