Angus Cloud’s mother has shared a statement in which she says that her son's unexpected death was not something she believed he intended to happen. Euphoria actor Cloud, 25, died last week. His death came a week after his father's funeral, a loss he was understood to have taken particularly hard.

Writing on Facebook, Lisa Cloud McLaughlin said that while her son was grieving for his father and had "intensely struggled" with their loss, he was also planning for the future. She wrote that he “was reorganizing his room and placing items around the house with the intent to stay a while in the home he loved” before his death on July 31.

“Although my son was in deep grief about his father’s untimely death … his last day was a joyful one,” McLaughlin’s statement said. “He spoke of his intent to help provide for his sisters at college and also help his mom emotionally and financially. He did not intend to end his life. When we hugged goodnight, we said how much we loved each other and he said he would see me in the morning.”

McLaughlin wrote that her statement was written, in part, as a corrective to suggestion she had seen on social media that Cloud had taken his own life. She acknowledged that he may have "overdosed" but if that is proven to be the case that he did so "accidentally and tragically."

“I don’t know if or what he may have put in his body,” McLaughlin’s statement continued. “I only know that he put his head on the desk where he was working on arts [projects], fell asleep and didn’t wake up. But it’s abundantly clear that he did not intend to check out of this world.”

At the time of writing an official cause of death for Cloud has yet to be determined.
