George Riley made a splash in 2022 with Running In Waves, an album of insular R&B balanced between the dancefloor and Arthur Russell-esque meditations. Her follow-up EP Un/limited Love is out on November 11 via Ninja Tune, and the songs so far indicate that Riley is eager to step out from the shadowy sounds of her debut album. The project's lead single, a balmy house tune called "Elixir," was a Song You Need last month, and today she's back with "S e x," a wild new track made with Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke.

The song's hypercolor rave instrumental feels tapped from the same vein as Mohawke's 2022 project Cry Sugar, but Riley sounds right at home as she sings about unworthy prospective partners. Video director (and member of The Horrors) Tom Furse uses generative AI-assisted tools to transform Riley into different characters including Goku, Catwoman, and the alien opera singer from The Fifth Element. It kinda fries your brain the same way an hour or two lost on TikTok will, but as far as toxic mélanges of content go, it's pretty hypnotizing. Watch it above.
