Flavor Flav might not be the first name that comes to mind when people think of great singers but that didn't stop a maverick thinker at the Milwaukee Bucks from inviting him to perform the national anthem before the NBA team's game against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.

The Public Enemy and reality TV legend took the mic and delivered "The Star-Spangled Banner" with 100% commitment, even if some of the basketball players couldn't get through the performance without chuckling to their teammates. Flav can take comfort that it didn't escalate to Fergie levels, whose performance of the song back in 2018 went viral and ended up with her issuing an apology for failing to "strike the intended tone."

It's impossible to ding Flav for this one, no matter how many bum notes made it into his rendition. Saying yes to lots of opportunities leads some celebrities to bizarre scenarios and this is clearly one of the more memorable for someone whose TV credits include everything from Celebrity Wife Swap to The Eric Andre Show.

"The anthem was a long time bucket list item,,, that was fun!," Flav posted on Twitter shortly after he stepped off the court. "I can’t live my life worried about what people might say about me. I won’t let that stop me from trying new things and doing things I wanna do. Some people might not like that. But a sure failure is if you stop trying."
